Richard Hughes came through Arsenal's youth ranks without breaking into the first team before finding a long-term home at Portsmouth, making 114 appearances across seven seasons from 2003. A tidy, hardworking central midfielder, the Scot was part of the Portsmouth squad that famously won the FA Cup in 2008, giving the club silverware for the first time in 69 years.
