Craig Gordon was one of the most expensive British goalkeepers of his era when Sunderland paid a significant fee to bring him south in 2007, and he delivered with 34 appearances in his debut 2007-08 season. His time at the Stadium of Light was interrupted by serious injuries, but he eventually rebuilt his career to become a Scotland stalwart and multiple-trophy winner back at Hearts.
