Charlie Adam was a Scottish midfielder blessed with a thunderous shot and a sharp range of passing, who announced himself to the Premier League with 12 goals in 35 appearances for Blackpool in their one remarkable top-flight season in 2010-11. He moved on to Liverpool and then Stoke City, where he spent five years and continued to deliver from set-pieces.
