South Africa's all-time top scorer, Benni McCarthy was a fearsome striker who arrived at Blackburn Rovers and immediately set about the Premier League — netting 18 goals in 36 appearances in a stunning debut 2006-07 season. The only South African to win the UEFA Champions League, having done so with Porto in 2004, he later moved to West Ham and went on to coach at the highest level including a stint at Manchester United.
