Robbie Blake was a well-travelled English forward whose career took in more than a dozen clubs, from Darlington and Bradford City to Birmingham, Wigan and Bolton. He is best remembered at Burnley, where in August 2009 he lit up Turf Moor with a thunderous first-touch volley to beat Manchester United on the club's return to the Premier League. A natural finisher with a fierce strike and a real eye for a free kick, Blake was the kind of clever, unfussy striker who kept popping up with goals supporters never forgot.
