Andy Griffin was a solid right-back who caught the eye at Stoke City before earning a £1.5 million move to Newcastle United in January 1998. He spent six years on Tyneside and later returned to Stoke, also serving Portsmouth and Derby County, making 27 Premier League appearances in his best campaign at Newcastle in 2002–03.
