Premier League 2026/27 Season Preview
The 2026/27 Premier League season is almost here. Here are all 20 clubs, who came up and who went down, the opening fixture, and how to get your predictions in before the table locks.
Premier League 2026/27 Season Preview
Pre-season is winding down, the fixture list is out, and in a couple of weeks the real thing starts again. Whatever happened last season, everyone's unbeaten right now, and that's the fun part of this time of year: twenty clubs, a blank table, and no idea yet who's going to be celebrating in May and who's going to be sweating relegation.
Here's a rundown of the 2026/27 Premier League: the full 20, what's changed since last season, the opening fixture, and how to get your own predictions locked in before a ball is kicked.
The 20 clubs
This is the full line-up for 2026/27:
AFC Bournemouth, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Coventry City, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Hull City, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur.
Twenty names, and if a few of them look unfamiliar next to last season's list, that's because three clubs have come up and three have gone down.
Who's up, who's down
Promoted to the Premier League: Coventry City, Hull City, Ipswich Town.
All three will be looking to do what Sunderland and Leeds United managed last time out: not just survive the drop back down, but actually establish themselves. Going up is one thing, staying up is the harder job, and the early fixtures tend to matter more than people expect for setting the tone of a promoted club's whole campaign.
Relegated from the Premier League: Burnley, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Three clubs with recent top-flight history heading back to the Championship for now, all presumably plotting an immediate return.
The opener: Arsenal v Coventry City
The new season kicks off with Arsenal hosting Coventry City at the Emirates on Friday, 21 August 2026. It's a Friday night curtain-raiser, and it also happens to double as the exact moment FootyIQ's Premier League Predictions table locks for the season. Kickoff is the deadline, no exceptions, so whatever your gut says about the 2026/27 table, get it in before then.
Call the table before it locks
This is the bit we really want you to do something about: Premier League Predictions is live right now, and it's asking one simple question. Where do all 20 clubs finish this season?
Predict the full table, top to bottom, and once the season starts you can track how your calls are holding up against everyone else who's had a go. Nailed the promoted sides staying up? Called a top-six surprise? Backed a relegation six months early? All of it gets tracked.
The catch is the deadline. Predictions lock the moment Arsenal kick off against Coventry City on 21 August, at 19:00 UTC (20:00 BST). After that the table's frozen and you're watching, not predicting. So if you've got an opinion on how this season shakes out, now's the window.

Test yourself before the season starts
If you want a quick warm-up first, we've also put together a Name All 20 Premier League Clubs quiz. It's exactly what it sounds like: all twenty 2026/27 clubs, see how many you can name from memory (including the three new arrivals) before the timer runs out.
And once the season's under way, the usual daily games are still there every day: guess the mystery player in Forgotten Footballer, work out the name in Footle, and connect two players in The Link. All free, all quick, and a good habit to have running alongside your Predictions table all season.
New season, blank table, twenty clubs with something to prove. Get your predictions locked in before Friday 21 August, and see you on the leaderboard.
